Elf Wendy Strikes Again...Ruby et Violette Cookie Giveaway!

This summer, Michael and I spent a few days in New York. This was our second trip to this AMAZING city, and we had a fantastic time...we saw Wicked, attended a Letterman taping, visited a few museums, and watched the Astros play the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. We also saw lots of great music: jazz at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola and the Village Vanguard...and a classical performance at Carnegie Hall. In between all that activity, we managed to eat our way around the city. One of our favorite stops was Ruby et Violette, a fantastic bakery  that specializes in gourmet cookies!!

We had seen the bakery featured on a TLC travel show a few weeks before our trip, so I jotted it down on our foodie places to try and visit during our trip. We were literally go-go-go the entire time, so we almost didn't make it to this charming little bakery. 

Our last day in town, we sat on a park bench outside of Shake Shack...eating delicious burgers and reminiscing about our amazing trip. We were sad that the trip was ending...but we had about an hour before we had to head to the airport. Michael asked me if I could pick one last place left on my New York Foodie List to visit, what would it be? Well...I never met a cookie I didn't like, so we jumped into a cab and headed to Ruby et Violette.

We dashed out of the cab with the meter still running and zipped inside to pick up a few cookies to snack on during the plane trip home. The bakery was so cute inside, and it smelled absolutely heavenly!! 

It was very hard to pick just three cookies to sample from their selection of gourmet cookies, but the meter was running...so we picked out three cookies and headed back to Texas.

We absolutely LOVED their cookies -- they're buttery and full of flavor!! They offer some flavors year-round, but others are strictly seasonal. When we got back home, we were thrilled to find out that Ruby et Violette offers mail-order service all over the U.S. via their website!!

Ruby et Violette generously sent me a 10-cookie bakery box to sample, which contains up to five of their seasonal cookie flavors. I visited their website last week and looked over all their current seasonal offerings. It was hard to pick, but I finally narrowed it down. The flavors I decided to try are: 

• Creamy Seduction -- fudge cookie with a cream cheese swirl and dark chocolate
• Creme de Menthe -- mint cookie with dark chocolate
• Champagne Strawberry -- champagne, dried strawberries, and dark chocolate 
• Oatmeal Raisin -- oatmeal, raisins, and semi-sweet chocolate
• Spiced Oatmeal -- oatmeal, dark chocolate, and winter spices

As you can see, the cookies come sealed two per package, to ensure freshness. They're clearly labeled, and they smell good -- even through the packaging! Here's a close-up shot of the cookies after I unpacked them.

I'm not sure which flavor is my favorite. They're all so yummy...and they tasted just as fresh as the ones we had from the bakery this summer! The Creme de Menthe is the PERFECT holiday flavor profile. The Creamy Seduction is a bit like a cheesecake brownie...a soft fudgy cookie with a swirl of sweetened cream cheese. The Champagne Strawberry reminds me of a chocolate-covered strawberry in a cookie form. If you love oatmeal cookies, you'll love them even more with the addition of chocolate chunks!!
