September Baking Challenge

Welcome September and happy Labor Day weekend! With a new month comes a new Sally’s Baking Challenge. I have just the baking project for us as the kids go back to school and we settle back into our normal routines!! But before we get started, let’s review what the baking challenge is:

MONTHLY BAKING CHALLENGE

On or around the 1st of every month, I post a new recipe complete with a how-to video, plenty of tips, tricks, and photos. I want you to bake the recipe yourself during that month, then come back and tell me how it went. Share your photos throughout the month using #sallysbakingchallenge on Instagram or email me, tweet me, or upload a photo of your recipe to my Facebook page. If you don’t like a particular flavor in that month’s recipe, there is an alternate challenge recipe. LOOKING BACK ON AUGUST

August Baking Challenge recipe: Chocolate Chip Cookie Layer Cake

August 2018 was filled with towering cookies; this may have been the most delicious month yet! Using the base cookie cake recipe, there were dozens of stacked cookie cakes with all sorts of frosting and assorted toppings. Peanut butter frosting and sprinkles, chocolate frosting and M&Ms, cream cheese frosting and chocolate chips, dark chocolate frosting and toffee chips… plus pink frosting, mint chip frosting, and even a cookie cake shaped like a heart! I applaud your creativity, friends! This was such a fun challenge and I enjoyed seeing your excitement about a wonderfully simple recipe. Thank you everyone who participated!

September 2018 Baking Challenge: Choux Pastry

Are you ready for this?! We’re finally doing it! By popular request, the September Baking Challenge is dedicated to choux pastry (pâte à choux) and ALL the delicious confections you can make from this versatile dough including homemade cream puffs, profiteroles, and eclairs. Next week I’m sharing my full choux pastry tutorial along with a helpful video so you can feel confident and prepared for this month’s challenge. The good news is that choux pastry sounds 100x more difficult than it actually is– literally takes 10 minutes to prepare– and the great news is that it’s SO FREAKING DELICIOUS. You’re going to be pleasantly surprised and feel so empowered after conquering this challenge!

My assistants and I will keep track of your photos and randomly select a winner at the end of the month. This giveaway is open to the whole world. Giveaway ends on September 30th 2018. A winner will be selected at random and posted on the October Baking Challenge blog post on October 1st.
