We Have the Same Favorites!
As I sat at my desk inhaling my 2nd bowl of chicken chili yesterday, I realized we hadn’t yet discussed the favorite SBA recipes of 2016. I quickly clicked over to my webpage analytics, ran a report for the year, and discovered that we have the exact same favorite recipes. This happens every year. The most popular recipes on SBA happen to be in my regular kitchen rotation! Tastebud twins. That’s why I love this baking enthused community so much.
We just *get* each other.
I know you’ve got some things to do before a new year begins on Sunday, so let’s make this snappy. Recipe countdown in

#10 Homemade Pie Crust
Everyone needs a dependable pie dough recipe and this buttery flaky pie crust is my standard. I link to this pie crust recipe in nearly all of my pie recipes. I’m happy that so many of you count on this recipe too!
#9 Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookies
I think it’s safe to say that I made cake batter chocolate chip cookies approximately 900 times in 2016.
#8 Easy Cinnamon Rolls
I’m comforted by the fact that so many of you faced your fear of yeast this year with these easy cinnamon rolls from scratch. These particular cinnamon rolls are a favorite because there is only 1 rise. And they’re super quick while sacrificing zero flavor.
#7 Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
A classic never goes out of style. Nor does it leave our kitchens! I make these chewy chocolate chunk cookies often because they’re super easy. You don’t even need a mixer.
#6 Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Ahh!!! Raisins beat out chocolate chips!!! That is why I love you and these soft and chewy oatmeal raisin cookies. Raisins for the win.
#5 Cut-Out Sugar Cookies
If I made the cake batter chocolate chip cookies 900 times, I made these soft cut-out sugar cookies 901 times. I even have a few versions going into Sally’s Cookie Addiction cookbook!
#4 Lemon Blueberry Cake
Lemon blueberry layer cake proves that chocolate cake isn’t always #1. This has been a favorite since I posted the recipe in 2014. I make it often even without the blueberries. Try it as a sheet cake in a 9×13 pan. Takes about 40 minutes.
#3 Homemade Salted Caramel
I link to this salted caramel recipe on a weekly basis. Because the stuff is so versatile! We poured it over cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning. And a few days before that? Turtle brownies. Ahh!
#2 Chewy Fudgy Homemade Brownies
I thought cookies would be in the top 3! But these chewy fudgy homemade brownies are a go-to. I love that the recipe only makes a 9-inch square pan so if you have a small family, you’re not left with dozens of leftover brownies. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing…
#1 Honey Garlic Shrimp
This shocked me too. SHRIMP is #1. This 20 minute honey garlic shrimp is a dinner I make on the regular too. It’s easy, super quick, relatively healthy, and pairs perfectly with mixed veggies and some brown rice. Leftovers hit the spot for lunch the next day too. The shrimp soak up all that sauce in the refrigerator!
Here are some other favorites in the top 30.
- Soft and thick snickerdoodles (pictured above)
- Slow cooker chicken chili
- Skillet chicken with creamy cilantro lime sauce (pictured below)
- Red velvet layer cake ♥ ♥
- Easy make-ahead breakfast casserole (I make this every time we have company over for breakfast. Literally every single time. It’s so easy and you don’t have to do anything in the morning except put it in the oven.)
See year 2015 + year 2014 + year 2013 + year 2012!
Q: What are your favorite recipes? Not particularly from my blog, but any recipes on the internet you make ALL the time?
