Here’s to 2017!

Deliciously organized fruit chaos in the form of Here’s to 2017!

Deliciously organized fruit chaos in the form of fruit tart. This was my favorite recipe published in 2016! And I loved seeing your versions on Instagram, through email, Twitter, and so on.

From a work standpoint, one of my resolutions in 2016 was to begin ditching my tripod. It’s been my photography crutch for 5 years, so this was certainly a challenge but also an invigorating leap as I faced a new (better!) lighting situation when we moved into the new house. On a personal level, I honestly tried to step away from the computer and technology. Kevin and I tried for date nights once a week, but those slowly fell to the back burner once we moved and I started Sally’s Cookie Addiction. It’s a goal for 2017: not just *one* night a week, but most nights free from work and technology. I gave myself more breaks and time off, which opened my world up to new adventures, travel, hiring 2 incredible assistants, and generally being easier on myself. Most bloggers can agree that it’s overwhelmingly impossible to step away, but I find that the more often we step away– even for just 30 minutes– the more motivated and inspired we are.

Finding a work/life balance has been fabulously energizing.

For Sally’s Baking Addiction, 2017 means getting back in touch with our baking roots. The more you and I chat over blog comments, emails, tweets, and messages the more I learn that YOU want to keep learning in the kitchen along with me. I love this! That means we’ll be focusing more on classic baking recipes, as well as simplifying recipes that sometimes leave us intimidated. And more baking basics posts to geek out with each other! And as I plan out my editorial calendar, I’d like to stick to a Mon/Weds/Friday post schedule but some weeks will be new recipes on Mondays and Thursdays. Bear (bare??) with me as I find a schedule that works best with my content creation. 🙂

My next cookbook will be published in 2017 and, like 2016, I hope to try my best to push through life with a positive and hopeful attitude!

As always, thank you for being here during these 5 years (!!). Thank you for helping shake up my world and routine this past year. I’m sincerely grateful you show up each day to read, learn, bake, and genuinely be your awesome selves. An even sweeter 2017 awaits us!

Have a safe and happy new year. See you on Monday!
