How to Fry Eggs
Frying an egg is a simple technique that can be used in a myriad of ways. Whether you are eating them plain, or topping off a dish with a sunny side up egg, it’s a technique you can easily master with a little practice.
How to Make a Sunny Side Up Egg
Step 1 – Over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a small nonstick pan. Swirl the butter around to cover the bottom of the pan.
Step 2 – Crack the egg into the pan. Cover the pan. You can use a lid or a piece of aluminum foil. This will trap the heat inside the pan cooking it from both the top and the bottom. Reduce the heat to medium low.
Step 3 – Let cook until whites are completely set on top. The yolk should ooze when broken.
How to Make an Over Easy Egg
Step 1 – Over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoons of butter in a small nonstick pan. Swirl the butter around to cover the bottom of the pan.
Step 2 – Crack the egg into the pan. Let cook until the bottom of the egg is white, the top still being uncooked.
Step 3 – Gently flip the egg over and continue to cook until the whites are completely set.
For an over easy egg, the yolk should ooze out once broken.
For an over medium egg, the yolk should be just barely set.
For an over hard egg, the yolk should be completely cooked through, much like a hard boiled egg.
