Announcing a Special Monthly Series Starting in September: Football Food!!

I've got some really fun news to share today...if you're a football-loving foodie like me, listen up! is kicking off a new monthly feature this football season focusing on football gameday food and tailgating!! We're huge football fans, so we get together with family to watch the Texans play every week...and you can be sure that food is going to be involved. Over the years, I've come up with some great strategies that allow me to serve up tasty snacks to a hungry crowd and not miss a single JJ Watt sack! I'm going to partner with some great sponsors to share some of my best tips and recipes each month between now and the Super Bowl in February. Here's a sneak peek at what I have planned in the coming months.

September: I'm kicking off the football food festivities later this month with my friends at San Antonio-based Kiolbassa Sausage. I'm going to show you how to plan a delicious,  stress-free game day menu by combining a few convenience items with a spotlight homemade appetizer featuring Kiolbassa's spicy Jalapeno & Cheddar Smoked Sausage. With this menu in your back pocket, all you have to do is set things up and cheer on your favorite team!!

October: In October, I'm going to show you how to plan a fantastic game day menu that's centered around two of everyone's favorite football foods: wings and pizza. I'm teaming up with Buffalo Wild Wings and Papa John's, the official pizza sponsor of the Houston Texans. Having the main menu items delivered or picked up before the first snap gives me time to focus my efforts on providing a fun homemade sweet treat -- like, say...brownies -- for everyone to enjoy. That's a win-win strategy for everyone!

November: In November, I'm going to tell you how to create a versatile, no-fuss chili bar that features make-ahead crockpot chili and a variety of toppings. That way, everyone can make a personalized culinary creation. I'll include corn chips, cheese, hot dogs and buns, and lots of other fun toppings. Everyone can grab a bowl and help themselves...and chili is perfect on a cool Fall afternoon or evening!

December: In December, we're partnering with the Houston Texans to learn all about the award-winning tailgating program at Reliant Stadium. These folks take tailgating seriously! We'll hit the road Thanksgiving weekend to visit with fellow die-hard Texans fans. We'll ask them their secrets to successful tailgating and sample some of their pre-game culinary creations. Then, we'll attend the Texans-Patriots rematch and try out some of the best food offered inside Reliant. We're beyond excited to attend our first-ever Texans game in person...and we'll share every moment of the experience with you live via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!!

January: Just in time for the playoff excitement to get underway, I'm going to share a Mexican Fiesta that features a simple no-stress menu. I'll share my personal favorite recipes for two classic game day dips: guacamole and chile con queso. I'll also offer two kinds of taco fillings flavored with Frontera Foods fabulous pouch sauces. These flavorful sauces include all the seasonings and spices that you need to make delicious and tender pork carnitas and shredded beef tacos. The meat cooks in the oven earlier in the day while you prep the rest of the menu items. By the time kickoff comes, everything's ready to be served. That means I won't have to miss any of the playoff action because I'm too busy cooking in the kitchen!

February: To wrap up this fun monthly football food series, I'll be focusing on the biggest sporting event of the year:  the Super Bowl. My party menu will feature several MVP-worthy finger foods and dips, a big-flavor sub sandwich that's large enough to feed a crowd...and a recipe for a festive adult beverage. Fingers crossed that my Texans make it all the way to the Super Bowl this season so I can share my Bulls on Parade cocktail that incorporates the team's signature red and blue colors. Even if you only watch the Super Bowl for the commercials, it's a marathon event that requires plenty of fuel to last until the end of the 4th quarter!

I'm so excited about this series of articles, and I hope you'll find plenty of tips and recipes that you can use for planning your own game day festivities. Whether you're cheering for your alma mater...your hometown team...or you just like hanging out and enjoying the commercials and the food...I've got you covered!!
