Win a Wholly Guacamole and Jennie-O Prize Pack...Featuring Aye Carumba! Turkey Burgers
I was recently selected to take part in a prize pack promotion with Wholly Guacamole and Jennie-O. I received a tee shirt and other cool swag, along with coupons to try a few of their items to create a unique burger creation that I christened Aye Carumba! Turkey Burgers. Jennie-O Turkey Burgers come in several flavors, but I decided that the spicy Jalapeno Jack was just what I needed to give my burger bold flavor. We try to eat light when we can, and these yummy burgers make it easy to do that. Each individually wrapped, portioned 1/3-pound turkey burger cooks up moist and flavorful, with less fat than a traditional burger. I also received several coupons for free Wholly products. I opted for a container of the Avocado Verde Salsa and their Classic Guacamole 100 Cal Snack Packs to sauce up my burger.
Because the turkey burgers, salsa verde, and guacamole all came “ready to go,” I was able to whip up my Aye Carumba! Turkey Burgers in less than 30 minutes. While the turkey burgers cooked, I whipped up a quick spicy burger spread by combining the Avocado Salsa Verde with my favorite ranch dressing. Although the turkey burgers had bits of Monterey jack cheese inside each patty, I decided to up the cheese factor. I added slices of Monterey jack cheese to the top of each burger. More cheese is never a bad thing in my book…agreed? Add some creamy guacamole to each burger just before serving…and you’ve got a spicy turkey burger that’s green enough to serve for St. Patrick’s Day this weekend!

a Weekend Gourmet Original
Step 1: Add a bit of oil to a non-stick pan over med-high heat. Add Jennie-O Jalapeno Jack turkey burgers and cook for 4-5 minutes per side. While the turkey burgers cook, make the spicy ranch sauce by combining ½ cup Wholly Avocado Verde Salsa and ½ cup of your favorite ranch dressing.
Step 2: Add 1 tbs. olive oil and one small sliced yellow onion to a non-stick pan over med-high heat. Sautee the onions until they are golden-brown, stirring often. Once the burgers are cooked and the onions are caramelized, you’re ready to assemble the burgers.
Step 3: Place a bottom bun on a plate and top with a few spoons of the spicy ranch sauce. Top with a Jalapeno Jack turkey burger, a slice of jack cheese, and grilled onions. Squeeze one packet of Wholly Classic Guacamole 100 Cal Snack Pack on the top bun. Carefully slice the burger in half with a serrated knife and enjoy. Serve with chips and corn on the cob for a complete meal.
These burgers were full of spicy flavor! The turkey patties were juicy, with lots of great seasoning and a medium jalapeno kick. The spicy verde-ranch sauce provided a nice kick, and the guacamole provided a nice creaminess in lieu of fattier mayo. Add in the grilled onions and melted jack cheese, and you’ve got yourself one winner of a burger. Even better, they're ready in less time than it takes to run out to pick up burgers from the drive thru!
