2015 Recipe Superlatives

Here we are with only 2 days left in 2015. Which completely blows my mind. It feels like yesterday I was shooting 10+ recipes per day for Sally’s Candy Addiction. When in reality, it was 11 months ago. (Yes, 10 recipes photographed PER DAY.) But without a doubt, another year has come and gone. And with your help, I’ve been able to work with more brands I support and respect. I’ve been able to travel for my brand, attend conferences for my brand, and I introduced you to 160 more recipes. And, much to my surprise, you love my newer savory recipes just as much as all the chocolate chip cookies. That, my friends, is pretty freakin’ epic.

Not only this, 2015 meant even more for SBA:

Oftentimes, I feel quite overwhelmed where my blog has taken me in only 4 years. From tiny hobby blog in 2011 to a professional food blog business in 2015. The work is exhausting but the thrill is awe-inspiring. I’m full of gratitude that you’ve helped me make my dreams come true. And guess what’s coming in 2016?

  • SBA Tumblr.

  • SBA YouTube.

Stay tuned for more information about both. Just working out a few Tumblr kinks and getting ready to shoot a few videos. I’m really, really excited about both!

So that leaves us with the best part!! The annual Sally’s Baking Addiction Superlatives. A post dedicated to looking back at the most popular recipes in the past year. See previous years:

I’m doing things a little different this year and simply sharing the 15 most popular recipes in all categories. I gathered these by using google analytics and comparing it all to the positive reviews left on each recipe. So, my friends, these 15 are the best of the best on Sally’s Baking Addiction. According to YOU!

#15 Red Velvet Layer Cake

No surprise here! This red beauty is so much more than vanilla cake tinted red. It’s a fabulous mix of butter, vanilla, and cocoa topped and layered with sweet and creamy cream cheese frosting. I tested so many red velvet recipes until finding my way to the one true masterpiece. If red velvet is your thing, this is a must!

#12 Soft & Thick Snickerdoodles

If you follow me on Snapchat, you saw just how simple these homemade snickerdoodle cookies are to make at home. I just snapped videos of me making them last week! They’re a must on my holiday cookie trays. Everyone always comments on how soft they are, too. And you don’t have to chill the cookie dough!

#11 Bacon-Wrapped Cheesy Stuffed Jalapeños

This comes as a shock to me too! I had no idea that jalapeños… stuffed with cheese… and wrapped in bacon… would be so popular on my baking blog. Just goes to show that you love your easy recipes more than anything else. Kevin is very happy these made the top 15. They’re definitely his favorite.

#10 Soft & Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Hallelujah!! My beloved raisin-filled oatmeal cookies made the top 10. If you know anything about me by now, you know that raisins are sorta my love language. And that I’m an 80 year old woman inside. But it looks like you’re right there with me. Besties.

#9 Easy Cinnamon Rolls

Well, this comes as no surprise whatsoever! These are the easiest from-scratch cinnamon rolls I’ve ever made. There is only 1 rise, which makes the recipe perfect for yeast beginners. And guess what? I posted a slow cooker version just last week.

#8 Classic Chocolate Cupcakes with Vanilla Frosting

No fancy, no frills! You all love classic recipes like this. And this is my very favorite from-scratch chocolate cupcake. Took me some time to land upon the best ratio of ingredients and I’m confident this is it. Thanks for loving it as much as I do! And guess what? Here they are again with a Snickers makeover.

#7 Skillet Chicken with Creamy Cilantro Lime Sauce

I threw this relatively healthy dinner together one night and decided to put it on my blog because maybe (??) you would want to try a new dinner recipe? Well, omg. You totally LOVE this 1 skillet meal! This past fall, I posted a lemon and thyme version. And I just made it last night!

#6 Soft Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

Every baker needs a solid cookie cutter sugar cookie recipe under their belt and I shared mine with the world back in 2014. These cookies keep their shape, have impeccable flavor, and are easy to decorate. Here’s my holiday version using the same exact sugar cookie recipe.

#5 Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookies

My career’s pride and glory! Enough said. Remember the day I made 12 dozen of them? I’m still recovering from it.

#4 Chewy Chocolate Chunk Cookies

My career’s other pride and glory. The recipe with the most comments on my blog! This is my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe. What makes it so unique? Extra egg yolk and brown sugar for chew, melted butter, no mixer, cornstarch for softness. The list goes on! Several readers have told me that they ditched their old favorite for this one. And one reader told me she makes these chocolate chip cookies every single week for the local fire department and they won’t accept any other chocolate chip cookie. Ha!

Here they are again with butterscotch and again stuffed with caramel.

(I think you like cookies.)

#3 Lemon Blueberry Layer Cake

I first made this cake on a snowy day with a windchill of -10. I’ve made it at least 8 times since as it’s regularly requested by my family and a few lemon-loving friends. This recipe went completely viral on Facebook and Pinterest and there’s no question why. It’s FANTASTIC.

#2 Chewy Fudgy Homemade Brownies

There’s no room for box mixes when homemade brownies taste as good as these do. You don’t need a million hours, 100 ingredients, or even a mixer! All you need is a love for chocolate. The popularity makes sense.

#1 Homemade Salted Caramel

My beloved liquid gold has taken the internet by storm. The funny thing is– that recipe is on a page, not its own post. I created a separate page for it so I can link to it in all the recipes where it’s used. Without the intention of ever creating its own post! Have you tried it yet?

And finally…

My #1 favorite recipe of 2015.

My favorites change on the regular, so I’ll tell you the recipe I’m making the most these days. There’s no chocolate or sprinkles. No caramel or cookie surprises. It’s not full of sugar, butter, or even gluten. I’m being totally honest here when I say my favorite recipe of 2015 are my go-to snack bars!! I make these every single week, usually on Sundays or Mondays. While I post dozens of dessert recipes for you each month, those desserts do not reflect what I eat on the regular. Because in reality, I eat as healthy as I can during the week and leave the indulging only for weekends. That means fruit and nut bars for snack time! Plenty of them.

Yep, I’m officially 80 years old.

So that wraps up 2015! I have one more recipe to share this year, then come next week you can expect a bunch of my favorite healthy meals, snacks, and even desserts. I have so much planned for SBA in January!

Q: What were some of your favorites this year?

Here’s to a pretty sweet 2016.  Includes cake batter chocolate chip cookies 2015 Recipe Superlatives
