Football season is here and to me that only means one thing.  Food!  Ok, and maybe some football thrown in there too.  But let’s be honest, one of the main things people love about football (besides the sport itself) is the food that comes along with it.  I can definitely agree with that statement, considering I only focus solely on the food when it comes to any football related party.

After making my buffalo chicken dip, I wanted to come up with another fun recipe that would be great for football season or just to eat in general.  One thing that instantly came to my mind was pretzels, they’re the perfect little poppable snack!

I love pretzels but hardly eat them enough.  Mainly because I’m like a bottomless pit when I get around them.  I love any kind of pretzel from soft pretzels to hard pretzels or even cinnamon sugar coated pretzels.  But now I’m including these seasoned pretzels on the list too because they’re soooo good and addictive too!

But be warned that this recipe makes a lot of pretzels, not that it’s such a bad thing if you’re making them for a party.  But if you’re like me and making them for you and one other person, well it’s not such a good thing.  I shared about half of them with my sister and then hoarded the rest all to myself.  Okay and maybe my husband too.

The weird thing with these pretzels is that they start to mysteriously disappear.  Weird, right?  They may disappear even faster at your next football party.  Don’t believe me?  Try them for yourself!

Ingredients

  • 1 16 oz. bag hard pretzels (whatever kind you prefer)
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 1 1 oz. package ranch salad dressing mix
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. dill weed

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Prepare two baking sheets (this makes a lot, so you will need two!).
  • Place pretzels in a large bowl or gallon size bag.
  • Whisk the oil, ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, and dill weed together in a separate bowl.
  • Pour mixture over the pretzels and stir (if using a bowl) or shake (if using a bag) well until all of the pretzels are evenly coated.
  • Pour pretzels out onto prepared baking sheets. If there is any oil remaining in the bowl/bag simply pour it over the pretzels on the baking sheet and stir them around to coat well.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, stirring in 15 minute increments.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool on baking sheet.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Pretzels will keep in an airtight container for 2-3 weeks.
